Mighty ist Google Chrome auf einem richtig schnellen Computer, in meinen Desktop gestreamt. Browser as a Service, sozusagen. Die Überlegungen zum Service, die Suhail Doshi in einem Blogpost veröffentlicht hat, sind meiner Meinung nach spot-on.
[Move] more client-side compute to the cloud. […] If you can move the most demanding processing, then battery life can finally improve because video decode and render times (we’re streaming video here) get more efficient with better chipsets. […] If most of the time people spend is in a browser and most of the processing and system resources are offloaded, their computer won’t feel slow as apps become more demanding.

Durch Zufall bin ich draufgekommen, dass es den Service seit mehr als einem Jahr nicht mehr gibt. Stattdessen wird irgendeine KI-Bildbearbeitungs-Seite geladen, weshalb ich alles Links auf nofollow gesetzt habe. Der Entwickler des Browser-Services hat das Projekt fallen gelassen:
One of the big ones is that laptop and desktop processors are getting better at single-core performance faster than server chips. And that means that while Mighty’s browser could render JavaScript up to twice as fast as a local browser running on your computer, it couldn’t hit its goals of speeding things up by 5 to 10 times as fast. In other words, it just didn’t seem like users were getting enough of a speed boost to justify paying a monthly subscription.
